When is orientation?
Orientation is scheduled for Wednesday, August 25 @ 6:00 pm and Thursday, August 26 @ 10:00 am. You must attend one session, whichever fits your schedule.
I’m a parent of a returning student. Do I still need to attend?
Yes. Each school year introduces new policies and procedures as well as new opportunities to volunteer at SDCCS. Orientation is mandatory and you can record the time spent at orientation as part of your required 54 parent volunteer hours.
How long is orientation?
Orientation typically runs about 2 hours
Is childcare available?
No childcare will be available.
Where can I park?
The playground area will be open for parking. Please follow the directions of our staff members.

Middle School Schedules
- Returning students in grades 7 and 8 will receive their class schedule when their Enrollment Card for the 10/11 school year is turned in.
- New middle school students, including all 6th graders, will receive their class schedule during the New Middle School Student Orientations: Wednesday, September 1 and Thursday, September 2
from 11:00 - 1:00 pm (Students choose one session to attend).
Field Trip Drivers (Optional)
- Declaration - Complete Form (PDF)
- Driver’s License
- Current registration of the vehicle that will be driven for field trips
(Expired registrations will not be accepted)
- Current insurance of the vehicle that will be driven for field trips
(Expired insurance cards will not be accepted)
What do I need to bring to orientation?
Returning Student
- Proof of Residence - A copy will be made for you.
- Acceptable documents include: recent utility bill, water bill or cable bill; recent rental agreement or mortgage documents; property tax payment receipts; military housing orders.
- The following documents DO NOT meet the San Diego Unified School District’s proof of residency requirement: driver’s license, cellular phone bills, bank statements, credit card bills, car insurance bills.
- Field Trip Driver (Optional)
- Declaration - Complete Form (PDF)
- Driver’s License
- Current registration of the vehicle that will be driven for field trips
(Expired registrations will not be accepted)
- Current insurance of the vehicle that will be driven for field trips (Expired insurance cards will not be accepted)
- TB Test (Optional)
- TB tests must be dated within the past 4 years
- A TB test is required in order to volunteer in classrooms or chaperone fieldtrips, including extended fieldtrips
- Checkbook/Other form of payment (Optional)
- We will have our school T-shirt for sale. You can also purchase school lunches in advance as well as making a contribution to SDCCS.
New Student
